Apprentices and Trainees
Brief decription of Employment Based Training including apprenticeships and traineeship
| The Apprenticeship Scheme (includes traineeships and traditional apprenticeships) is a national system for people to work, learn and gain a nationally recognised qualification all at the same time.
Great Southern TAFE offers flexible work based training and assessment that may include classroom delivery, block release, online learning and other self-paced learning materials. We deliver training across Western Australia in some training areas.
A traineeship or apprenticeship course can take between one and four years to complete, depending on the level of qualification, relevant skills and knowledge already obtained of the individual, the average number of hours worked and the industry requirements.
Great Southern TAFE offers traineeship qualifications ranging from Certificate II to IV and apprenticeships at Certificate III level. Employers of a trainee or apprentice need to have a registered Training Contract in the workplace’s State. An Apprenticeship Centre (AC) can help you register this agreement and they will also inform you of the benefits and financial incentives that may be available to your business if you employ a trainee or apprentice. |
 |
A Training Contract can be registered at any time during the year but it is your responsibility to contact the TAFE and negotiate when and how the training will take place. Some traineeships and apprenticeships involve block release or some classroom activity that may only have yearly or mid year intakes.
